After some advice from restorers. Inside the luggage compartment, I have removed the seam sealer where the fuel inlet meets the front quarter panel as
there was rust under the sealer. I have wire brushed and treated the rust. The seam sealer VW applied seemed to trap water that leaked through the
seam from around the fuel flap area. Question is should I replace the seam sealer?

I would use Stop Check which comes in a tube form and not as messy as the spray on goo that VW used
It can be squirted into the gaps between the two metal surfaces then wipe off excess with Prepsol much neater job before spraying the vehicle

let me check its Drip Check found on Ebay might be at Supercheap make sure you squirt into the cavity wipe of excess with prepsol to
make a clean seal joint will stop moisture getting in between the 2 panels much neater than the spray on gunk
