hey, if they are anything like the indents on the rear pillar of the square type 3. i couldnt sand them cus i couldnt get my fingers in there..so i used a 3M quick strip disk. goes on ur drill and will strip the paint back to bare metal and polishs it ready for etch...i did that...got all the paint out..then i etched...and i primed..but then i really layed the primer in..so it came up really thick..rippled on the outside...but on the indent it was smooth...ready for sand..then paint..

hope that was any use :thumb

i had this problem could not find any thing small enough to go through the louvers (GRILL)..the vw i bought had a engine fire and it was all surface rust in there .. toyed with removing the louvres but could not get a hold of a spot weld remover bit .. so i degresed it with high preasure to clean it then pored some rust converter in and used a art paint brush .. you know like a pensil .. painted it with the same . the spray paint would not get in there .. unless a paint shop could do better ? best of luck
