Temporary respray on otherwise sick looking bus?
bus356 - December 10th, 2003 at 10:09 PM

I'm considering purchasing the "Show Quality Baja Bus 4 sale in Brissie" (link below)...

But how's the paint! Please tell me that was done in the 80s!? After buying it I won't have the cash to strip it right back and do a show quality paint job, but will do so within 5 years.

I know 5/8 of nada about paint so what I need to know is, in the meantime could I get a relatively cheap, professional paint job over the top of what's there?

I would just want straight black gloss. How much would would I be looking at paying?

Also, any suggestions as to why it hasn't sold - the motor and body look pretty nice. I assume the whack paint job and the price would be turning people off... maybe also the illegal lift?

Any comments mucyh appreciated!

Cheers

"relatively cheap, professional paint job"

there is your problem. bit of an oxymoron. but if the current paint is sound yeah you can simple get someone to undercoat and spray ontop of that. a paint job will only be as good as whatever it is painted on tho.

you'd have to get someone else to reccomend a place. personally i would wait and do it properly. if it bothers you that much do a rattle can job. because if you are going to take it back to metal in the near future (Within 5 years as you say) getting a pro to do it in my eyes would be a waste.

thats just my 2c.
