FLAMES how do I?

Ok I know this has been covered before, I can't find the thread, or is there a informative website covering the process needed to put flames on your car. Any info would be helpful.

Alternativley you have some other options.

If the car is already painted.
Mask the outline of the flames.
mask up the rest of the car
use scotchbrite to scuff the paint.
select colour
paint flame area with spraygun
unmask

This can also be done if you are painting the car using basecoat if the paint is Clear over Base (COB). Then after unmasking the flames you clear over the lot.

You can also make flames from vinyl. They can be computer cut by a graphics shop and you then have the option of removing them if you want to. :thumb

There are NO local JC Whitney stores in Australia....:D
They are like K Mart except they have lots of car parts... most of it cheap...

My Son is a spray painter..
Here is some of His work..
was offered jobs in Melbourne & Brisbane
at the last Valla - Nambucca...
I haven't seen it done, but if You rub Your hand across it, You Cannot feel the flames
I don't think it really matters if You can or Not... it just what spray painters do...

Mine aren't really intended to be flames, but a ripped thing, but everyone mistakes it for flames. We just ripped the masking tape to get a ragged edge and masked out the shape we wanted and sprayed it. turned out pretty good.

i thought i had an article on that in a mag lying around but it appears i must have leafed through one in the newsagent and didn't actually buy it.

essentially mask it and spray it with an airbrush.
