WTD: Photo of 1973 Kombi taillights
modulus - April 1st, 2004 at 11:35 AM

Does anybody have a nice, juicy, detailed photo of the Kombi 1973 (transitional) taillights for reference at the AussieKombiCampers website? (Ditto for a close-up of 68-72 taillights, but I could find those elsewhere).

Thanks guys; I confess I'm not sure; at a quick glance, the first set look pretty similar to the '72-s (with some reversing lights added in?), and the second set look pretty similar to '74+s. I guess I'll have to do a more detailed check when it's light again. Thanks for the input,

Regards,

The 72 model Kombi tail lights are the same as the 73-79 as shown in VolkFolks post. That's what mine are on my 72.

As far as I know..The 72 bus was the transition.. early lights at front and later on the rear.. This is exactly how my 72 Deluxe is set up
.. 72TwinCab is spot on

I was going on a couple of quotes from earlier threads, for example:
"
The 72 had in-between lights.. Flat profile but larger and squarer than the earlier model.. The 73 went to a deeper profile and more square again.. But, as has been said.. even in the change over year, the lights weren't uniform to all models.. [StenGuns]
"

So are there 3 taillight designs for the Bay, or just the two?

The lights in the image baybuscamperkid posted were the same as the ones my US spec 71 delux had in America.

All the 71's I saw in Arizona had the reversing lights above the tail lights.
