Who has installed a beetle headlining?
I plan on doing mine myself, and I am sure that there must be some handy tips out there. or if you have had any nasty experiences doing this
yourselves let me know about it.
Thanks Silver
got one to do myself so will be watching tyhis post with interest. if it seems to hard will take it to Cruisin Car Carpets & Upholstery as have been told he does a good job, plus just down the road from work
I have done 2 beetle headlinings the first one took 2 days
the second one took 2 hours
heres the secret:
1 start at the back window glue the hoodling to the top edge of the rear screen
2 fit the bows
3 pull tight and glue to top of windscreen (front of car)
4 glue hoodlining to the sides of rear window
5 pull tight and glue hoodlining to rear windows left then right (or R then L)
6 now above doors fold hoodlining and tuck under metal tabs
also make neet folds where hoodlining passes over A pillars
and B pillars
7 re fit windows I asume you no how
thats the hard part
PLEASE NOTE above is the hard part if changeing colour or material make sure your kit has the material to do above rear parcel tray and and around
rear door panels
67 and earlier cars are don't go under front windsreen rubber (originality) but when you pull the old lining out youll
see how it works or you can do it like the late model
DON'T pull to tight just enough to remove the sag
DO use a good contact cement sparingly
You make it sound so easy. Which contact cement do you use? How many windows do you have to pull out?
sounds easy!!!!!!!!I am changing the lot ....so what order do i do all the bits in.
ie, door pillars first, under rear window first, under side windows first?????????????????
Did you go it alone or did you get some extra hands in?
I have the headlining kit already so I'm going to tackle this soon
thanks for the input zjm.
