Sliding door problems!
Grock - May 22nd, 2004 at 11:04 PM

Hi everyone,

I am having some trouble with my sliding door on my bay. It seems to be riding low, so there is a gap at the top (so potentially water could get in!). I had a bit of a tinker but can not see what the problem is! It would appear that in the past the problem has been addressed with some washers here and there and some strips of metal to try and jack it up but still there is a decent gap at the top (not to mention it sticks out from the side and the alignment is all out).

I am new to the vw scene so really dont have a clue!
If anyone can tell me what i can do to sort it out i would really appreciate it!
thanks

The best thing to do is adjust it so it all lines up. :)

Yeah, the adjusting idea is good:), except i think it may be already at the adjustment limits. I think this would best be supported by a pic, but i have none at the moment :cussing.

I had a fair bit of trouble with the sliding door on my previous kombi. Start with the rear mount that slides in the track below the window. Check that the plastic block isn't tioo worn and make sure everything slides freely and that the rear of the door sits at the right height. Then move to the bottom roller near the front of the door. This one determines the ride height of the front of the door, and has some adjustment in/out as well. You may need to loosen the top roller to do this. Then finally, adjust the top roller upwards to eliminate any chance of the roller coming out of the track - something to avoid at all costs, as it can result in the door falling off completely with the handle still in your grasp!!
