How to repair split screen bus pop out windows ?
mockbee - June 2nd, 2004 at 07:34 PM

Has anyone got ideas on repairing the bottom metal strip of a pop out window? It's rusted, but seems to be some metal there!

I'm no expert, (there are plenty here who are), but I've looked at mine long and hard, bought some genuine (used) popouts, then sold them, bought some cheap 'n nasty new aluminium ones and sold them....
It's fair to say most of them will be rusted along the bottom and I don't know if you've ever tried to take a pop out frame apart, but it's real close to impossible if rusted. I reckon import some from "creative" and you don't ever have to worry about it again. So "out with the old, in with the new."

best off getting a few to choose from, picking the best bits and alot of patience!

I agree with Brad. You can land a pair of new
high quality aluminium pop-outs from Creative for
around the same price that people are asking
for the average originals now.

Buy em without glass and put yer original in.
Small package doesn't weigh anything and you (normally)don't attract
duty if you only buy two frames...

I'd only put originals in something really really special.

Thanks everyone! Now I just have to save up some cash!
I'll look for 'creative' and see how much they cost.

bus356 - June 14th, 2004 at 05:07 PM

how much?

robnjo - June 18th, 2004 at 07:31 AM

so does the aluminium pop-outs from Creative screw straight into the hindges that are on the bus already?

They do bolt up the existing hinges and made from
two pieces as per original.

I last paid Oz$100 each for frames last December. Freight on a bucketload of stuff was another 72 pounds but that included
safaris, weld in chassis legs etc etc. Pop-outs frames alone don't cost a lot in freight or attract duty..
