I am trying to figure out how to remove the window from a spare sliding door i have for my kombi! Can someone please explain to me how it is done without breaking the glass!

If the glass is your main concern then get a razor blade and cut the rubber. then purchase a new rubber for re-install.

Get a razor blade n cut the old rubber.

the glass is more expensive to replace than the rubber.

New rubbers are avaialble in Sydney

:o hmm, so I'm going to assume that this is the easiest way of doing it but just to keep my options open, is there a way to do it without cutting rubber? (the rubbers dont look that bad, would be a shame).

Just get a blunt flat head screw driver and starting from the top center push the rubber down and lip it on the frame of the door... as you work around it comes much easier and you will be able to save rubber and glasss.. It can be a bit fiddly when you have never done it before but its not hard..Oh and the reason for a blunt flat head is a narrow headed sharp one will cut into the rubber

The rest of Us cut the rubber, as its over 35 years old and has gone very hard.... and You don't break the glass...
I know its a shame , but that is what I did, and most people I know have done...
If You think You can do it with a screwdriver etc...

Usually, the only rubber that is re-useable is the windscreen rubber as it has been replaced over the years with broken windscreens... [at least in the country]..

My Son tried to take the new windscreen out of His oval beetle [in a new rubber] and broke the windscreen...
So You have to be lucky too.....

yes there is but if you aint done it before then CUT the rubber

Like i said Rubber is cheaper than A new glass.

i use a screw driver u just have to get it under the right part of the rubber
and pops out
i done 4 windows front back and to back side of a t3 in under 10 min
2 easy

I made a tool out of 3mm thick steel. Shaped it like a butter knife. Ground down the edges (rounded) and thinned the rounded pointy end. Heated it a little and gave a bit of a bend.

Works a treat!

i just pushed tham all out from the inside, no problme, rubber and all glass came out intact.

all I do is push them out from the inside.
10 minutes, bah, I can do a beetle in about 3.
if the rubbers aren't brittle and stuffed you can then re-use them if you don't cut them.
just make sure you work from the corners, and preferably have someone to catch them on the outside.
you'll be surprised how resiliant the glass is.

yeah not a problem with Safety glass but Laminate will crack and fracture.

best off cutting it if never done before.

Washing up liquid fed into the rubber on the inside, and just push, soo easy, i have taken 100s out like this, (i used to wreck cars in the uk), if the rubbers stuffed and hard cut the bugger as others have mentioned..
