I welded up all the trim holes on my bug years ago using a mig, did one hole at a time and had a wet rag to quench each weld so it didnt distort the panel....worked really well

I bent the bonnet strip on My Beetle, so I asked My Son to braze the bonnet holes up....

When I came home ALL the strip holes on the car had been brazed up.
So I have No strips on My car... but 2 sets of strips as I might use them one day....

Get a piece of copper strip and place behind the hole when welding. This will allow a surface for weld build up and use less heat to fill the hole.
