jhopper - August 16th, 2004 at 10:35 PM

I have in the past repaired rust with fiberglass (an old Datsun) I also know that hotrods and such can be made entirely of fiberglass. has anyone had experiance with doing fixes this way? i cant weld (at least I dont ahve the gear and havent tried...) and wonder if this is another approach that might help. i want to get all therust out and such, but can't wield.

this is illegal in nsw in any part of the body that is structural ie most of a bug apart from the guards or bonnet/ boot lid. sorry im just scared by any one who does this cause ive seen cars break almost in half on a hoist because some one thought that they could do a cheap repair this way

Ah, so the problem is that it is not strong enough....good to know!

What about doors?

Repro rods and kit cars made from glass are "steeled out" to prvide structural rigidity. At joins and seams etc more steel is laid into the glass to provide mounting points.
