Hiya!
My friend needs a new roof interior for her car, she has a vw beetle and the original ceiling (roof lining) is falling down and currently held
together with gaffer tape! She has been quoted $550 for a new one to be put in. Is this a reasonable price? Does anyone know of someone (in the
Brisbane area) who could do it cheeper?
Thanks, beetlegirl!
I think that would be good price if they do pillar as well
Got a price in melb and it is same
Very tricky job !!!!!!!
we did ours ourselves. i cant remember what is cost but it was definatly tricky...and so it is not perfect...but still very nice
BTW it has smoothed out a bit since that picture its not that bad...looks much nicer towards the front (easier).
Dependin on the model the front windscreen somethings needs to be removed i believe
Did You put that in without taking the windows out???
I have all My windows out... and Its a terrible job trying to make all the ripples etc disappear...
and It is very difficult to do them with the windows Out,
so it would be Really Hard to install one with the Glass still in the car...
$550 isn't a bad price... it could be worse...
so long as they do a good job...
The headliners You buy these days don't make it any easier..
Many years ago You could buy headliner to suit what model Beetle... but these days they are Generic...
One size fits all...

As You can see, I have a lot of wrinkles to make disappear..
the glass sunroof just made it harder... much harder...
pic.. looking thru the windscreen hole towards the rear of car.

The warmer weather does make a BIG difference to the headliner...
Doing it on a very hot day would be best...
I've had cooler weather up until the past few weeks and it was impossible to do anything to it.. I was thinking of using a hair dryer and electric
blow heaters... even a small domestic steamer... I'm just taking it slow.. and with a LOT of luck I can make those wrinkles disappear....

good luck lee and dont loose patience
