VW Brilliant Red

Hi all,
is this formula for Brilliant Red , a 1958 colour, an enamel
or 2pak. If its enamel, how do we figure the 2 pak formula?

Have you contacted a Spies Hecker supplier?

Series 257 may be a two pack system, and they will be able to supply the paint if the series is still available.

If you want it in a different brand paint, you cannot use the Spies Hecker formula to make it.

each paint system has their own formula using their own tinters.

on tuesday just past i made up some saltlake grey metallic for a tourag in Glasurit 55 line.. which is base coat than is covered with a 22 like (2pak) clear..

the older colours that were just flat can be done clear over base(CoB).. or in the 22 line (glasurit specific) which is a 2 pac colour that you dont apply a clear coat to.

if you have the paint code, take it to a paint supply store, that mixes colours, and they'll make it up using their colour search system.

the outcome of the formula will not match the existing paint on your car.. as obviously there are different spraying conditions, different paint, different guns etc.for a full re-spray.. dosent matter.. for doing one or two panels.. the colour will need to be modified to suit your existing panels:)

I did some more digging; that formula is for acrylic urethane, whiich is 2 pack
it seems?
What paint manufacturer do you guys favour??

i have only ever used glasurit.. but i'v also only been in the trade for 3 months.. it has poor filling power (sand scratches) but is a good system.. you just need to make sure you sand each panel with 800 grit paper, in a smooth way, so you do not have gouges in the panels before painting:) but you should always do that anyway:)

Even less exposure then Damo but the shops Ive worked in have used

Dupont, Glasurit, and Debeer,

Dupont is excellent stuff, same with glasurit,
