Hey everyone. I have a indian automotive irs kit and front beam to go into my splitty and have already tryed painting them in many diferent coatings
to get a good hard finish that looks good but i havent been happy with any of them. Is powder coating a good idea for suspention parts? How
expensive is it, any one had things done before? Does the part that will be coated have to be 100% bare metal with no old paint or body filler on it?
Any advice to do with this subject would be great,
Thanks, Alex.
It's best if the area to be coated is sandblasted first, many powdercoaters can do this also.
You need to tell them which bits to mask off as powdercoating is very hard and you don't want it all over the bits that mate together with grease
etc.
Some bits need to be kept as bare metal for obvious reasons. Threads etc.
Not too expensive, a beam might cost $100 or so. All colours are now available in powdercoat too which is good.
Tried POR15
Another option is to paint it with heatproof engine enamel, then bake it on
by leaving it out on a40 degree day or by hitting the whole thing with a blowtorch . It will dry harder than normal paint.
