Yeah, as mentioned in the topic... Where can I grab hold some POR15s in Melbourne for painting the Pan ?
Cheers~!
Seeing no one has answered for Melbourne.
I bought mine from S.A.Paint Supplies here in Adelaide.
Great stuff but make sure you follow the instructions.
Cheers
Dave

terry
Why do you think its shit.
Have you used it.
I have and it works great.
Cheers
Dave
BEST STUFF THAT I HAVE EVER USED.
What would you reccomend instead Bigbaja??
I used a 2-pack epoxy mastic (rubberized) paint called barmastic.
Cost $80 for 4 litres paint and thinners
Seems to be pretty good, they use it for maintenance coating on bridges and oil rigs.
Chewy.
Check all other posts about POR15, terry is the ONLY one ever to say its no good.
Everyone else(and quite a few have used it) say that it is great stuff.
One against quite a few??????, I would check first
Cheers
Dave
Yea I know, but its also a completely commercial paint (hence all the adds everywhere..) and is not used in industry.
IMO industrial standard usually = quality in my eyes.
Not to say it isnt what it claims to be.
I've seen on other forums numerous complaints with Por 15, but that could easily just be the users own fault.
For what it costs I would rather stay away from it..
Bamastic is the go for big areas (floorpan etc) as the prep is not as important but it is 2pack so is harder to use. It does not have a pretty a
finish either.
POR-15 is the go for small areas (suspension parts, brake parts, etc) as it is easier to use (doesn't require mixing so can use small volumes) but
harder to prep. Metal must be completely clean before applying POR15. But this is easy on smaller parts.
BigBaja - explain your prep work and it might explain why it didn't work for you.
Dasdubber had issues with POR15 but he used it over primer, a big nono.
I have heard bad things about por15 (second/third hand, never used it myself) from people who say their prep was poor/non existant
:blah
POR is available by mail order from www.ppc.au.com. There are a few paint shops which sell it
in Vic and they are listed on the web site. I found it cheaper to buy it from PPC and pay postage.
I have used it quite extensively on small items. I painted my rear drums with silver POR15, overcoated with clear. After 12 months all that has
happened is that the colour has become slightly brown. I think this is due to a combination of applying the clear too thick plus UV exposure. They
do state that POR15 is UV sensitive and will change colour after a period of UV exposure. So far so good, I can only assume that the problems some
people have had are due to poor or incorrect prep.
Chewy, where did you buy the barmastic from?
Purple T3,
you can get Barmastic from PROTEC pty/ltd in melbourne
17 Mctinosh street.Airport West.Vic.3042.

Wow! I did Andy's drums with VHT high temp brake stuff (on new clean drums) and they went black within the first 100km!! I painted them red.

HERE'S MY KOMI BEFORE I USED POR 15.
WIRE WHEELED IT, PREPED WITH POR CLEANER, THEN APPLIED POR ANTI RUST CONVERTER, FOLLOWED BY A GOOD LICK OF POR 15. STICKS LICK SHIAT TO A BLANKET IF
YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CORRECTLY..
THE FINISHED RESULT..
nice jobs all round boys..
por 15, is would seem will be okay, but only if ur prep is good.
so i guess u need to work it out for ur self...i u will be prepping right..then should be ok...if not..don't use it.
find something else
can you get masterseries rust preventer or rustbullet anywhere in Aus?
sorry for the wait but i used it as per can
sand blasted primered
then applied same afternoon
put it on stands and jacked it up a few times
even dropped my car keys on there once (there is only 4 keys on my keyring ) and it has scratches all over it .
bit of brake fluid was spilt on it and it all bubbled up as well.
for some thing that is supposed to be hammer tough which is the sole reason for putting it on my baja pan in the first place.
and i would recomend powder coating it then a clearcote if you were worried about it being porus
