I have got a 69 beetle currently painted in wrx prodrive blue about to fit a new set of aeros and replace the doors and few other bits and pieces.
While doing this i also wanting to give the car a respray. I am thinking that a metalic gun metal grey is going to be my new color. To give you an
idea of the car, it has 19 inch 5 spoke wheels, lowered, side fibreglass scoops for intercooler and suby conversion. Done a search on the forum and
few people said hard color to get right. Why is this so? Been looking around at other cars for the right grey color. Any advice on a good color which
works well? Also any cool pics of bugs in this color?
Cheers
u know wat i think go" silver
There are a few dark grey bugs on the germanlook forums that look pretty cool. Can you post pics of your car? I am in the process of a EJ20T
coversions aswell and was cosidering the same subaru colour of your car.
Cheers Paul
Here is a picture will get some more soon
German racing silver..... Hard.
There is a nice gunmetal grey kind of colour that the new MkV Golfs come in. I'll take a wild guess the colour is called anthracite. It is a metallic
rifle grey its a Maserati colour, not to green & not to milky. I,ve sprayed my x19 in it then to of my mates cars LH torana and a Porsche 944 and the beetles shape would show of the colour nicely .

yep, the colour that Che said.
I think the Touareg comes in the same colour.
looks good.
Went and had a look at the local vw dealer down here in Tas at the new golfs for colours. The gun metal grey colour is called United Grey Metalic
looks pretty cool. It looks almost silver in the sunlight and quite dark in the shade.
So why are these colours so hard to get right?
The reason people think they are hard to get right is when they first came on the market and people wanted them they require a different style of
paintign to achive the proper look. U had a lot of back yard people trying to paint and some shops that would end up with major striping or
patchiness.
Part of there make up is silver and when silvers are used as a main part of a colour if not applyed right it will look patchy, so they have a bit
of a bad name... but if you get it done right by someone who knows what they are doing you should have no problems.
steff.....................................
I have now changed my mind i am going to go with silver, i am thinking of the subaru silver it has a good amount of pearl and mettalic fleck. Havent seen to many silver bugs. seen a few on the german sites. cant wait to see it in silver.
