Pop-out window problems
kombipom - July 17th, 2005 at 10:38 PM

Hi all,

I've been stripping out the (old and dodgy) camper interior from the kombi ('74) and had a closer look at one of the popout quarter windows, the one behind the drivers door. I managed to get it open with a little "persuasion" but all along the bottom edge is rusted and bubbled. Also under the window rubber at the bottom is rusted too, I dont think that bit is too bad and should clean up OK.

So now the questions:
Can you get replacement pop-outs easily and if so is removing the old one and fitting the new one a 'mare or peice-o-cake?
If you can't get new ones or they are a pain to fit can you get a one peice window instead? I'm not that bothered about the pop-out-ability as it will probably end up in a cupboard anyway when I'm finished.

Thanks for reading.

They are common to rust and also to cause water leaks that rust your bus. One piece glass is pretty easy to get. I got one of my local VW places to get me one piece glasses for all round the bus, and I think he may have got them shipped down from VVDS in Sydney. $60 a piece. I also got new rubbers and they were easy to fit.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I'll go for the one peice option.
