hey guys im in melbourne and i am wanting to clean the inside of my bay kombi fuel tank, i know where i can get it acid washed but does any one know
where i can get it re-coated in the inside?? if any one has done this before or knows where i can get it done all in the one shot please let me know,
also if you can recomend a place in melbourne which does this all in one procedure (acid wash, then re-coat) can you name the place,
thanks heaps
Don't know if this will help. I used to restore old bikes for a few years and if I got one that had a tank with some some light rust in it, I would
take it to a big car radiator mob and they used to clean it out for me. Then I used to use a tank liner called Kreem, It is an epoxy liquid you just
pour it in and coat the whole inside of the tank, and let it dry. I think POR 15 have a similar system. There are business's here that bring POR 15
in I would assume they could get it for you.
Have a look here.

Rob...
Yep, instead of paying extra for someone else to do it, grab the POR15 kit. It's great.
Go to a rod shop in Melbourne to get it. If Melbourne is anything like Sydney the VW shops that have it ask about 40% more in rip-off margin.
awersome thanks heaps, Robo and HRM, i will try and find one of these por15 kits. im not too farmiliar with the hotrod scene but does any one in
melbourne know of a hotrod shop that sells this stuff, or another shop that sells it fairly cheap??
thanks guys
dude, there's a paint shop on Lacey St (All Paints?) that sell the fuel tank kits - I used a kit on my beetle tank (40L tank) and I only used half of the kit.... it rocks and I'm never going to have to worry about rust or crud again!
sounds good, ill have to try that place Oval TOFU, does any one know of any other places that might sell these kits?? around croydon
(melbourne)ish??
thanks
Buy the fuel tank resto kit from Permanent Painted Coatings http://www.ppc.au.com/index.htm. Keep the used prep products for reuse on other bits.

croydon, i couldnt find the fuel tank repair kit on the site, only could manage to find the catalouge, oh well i will check the paint store out.
thanks all heaps for your helpfull and usefull info!

GO POR-15!!

The shop's name is all Car Paints - they should be in the Yellow/White pages and the kit should be $100 or so..
thanks heaps guys for all your help, really appreciate it!
now i know what im lookin for, woohooo
cheers guys
I would take the tank and have the outside sand blasted first to see if there are any rust holes.
If there too big you may havet ofind a better one cause the Por 15 or Kreem wont fix them only welding in a new bit of metal will fix.
yeah i might try that aswell just to make sure there are no leaks or holes, where bouts do you get something sandblasted? any one know?? around
croydon?? then ill probly give the outside a treating to some powder coating mmmmm or hammer tone paint!,
cheers guys
look up in the phone book usually the same place as a Powder coater as most items are blasted before applying powder coating
will do cheers vw54!
thanks 4 ya help mate.
