From late '55 sedans were L315 - Dark Jungle Green

How dark are we talking. A lot of Ovals were painted in Clayton Green and Pastel green.
Have a look here for the numbers ECT.

Be warned....recently been looking at paint a lot....US/Euro colours may be called the same thing, but might be a different colour. Some US/Euro colours are the same, but given a different name in AU. That's marketing people for you.

Case in point. L31 Dove Blue (as per the samba et al). 2 paint shops I went to could not find it in AU colours. One place has original 60's swatches. Dove Blue indeed did not appear in the 67 range. Though there is a Pigeon Blue, which is much lighter. Their computer has Pigeon Blue, no Dove Blue. Also - Mango Green appears in more than one guise in the US/Euro ... from what I've been looking at.

So make sure you're matching colour to colour, not just the code or name, else you might not get what you're looking for....

Ill agree with that, most PPL think my Oval is Dove blue, but it is actually Pigeon blue!

after great debate with the local paint shop - is Dove Blue and Pigeon Blue the same then?

Robo - October 9th, 2005 at 08:36 PM

As far as I have been told it is the same. But my car definately looks different to dove blue.

probably close enough, given the paintshop's accuracy. Thanks fer that....I'm keen to go Dove blue, but to be honest got the pip with talking about it with the paint shop and was opting for something dif. Now you've got me thinking again ... thanks ... and sorry to hijack the original green question.
