seen a BRIGHT yellow superbug around marochydore a few days ago, and it had a rag, looked mint, until i seen the otherside, it was rather dented, but yeah it had a rag and from where i seen it it looked liek it was a factory thing, i always assumed rags were replaced with the metal sliding sunroofs in the 60's or something, anyoen wish to enlighten me on this?

believe there are two (that i have heard of) types of ragtop.. a goldie which is factory fitted and a britax which is factory made but installed aftermarket.
dont know about them being replaced with sunroofs tho.

goldies can be found on early beetles, pre 67.. britax were fitted after that, but can also be found on earlies cos anyone can fit one..

the steel sliding sunroof is a lot smaller than a rag, they are another option for the later bugs (after 68)

i just sold my britax a few weeks ago, it was in a 69 bug

I think that there was a limited run of supers that had factory rags and were all bright yellow - a "Sun" beetle or something. I've seen an identical one down here in Melb... can't be sure but I think I saw the name on a VW special model listing some time...

i have seen a bright yellow rag in west melbourne.. it is between 68-70, it has no vents behind the quater.... but that makes it not a super.. so yeah :|
