Melbourne spray painters

Im looking at respraying my kombi and am wondering if anyone knows any decent, reasonably priced painters in Melbourne.

Is resparying a kombi that hard? Could I give it a go myself?

Have a read through some of the articles stuck to the top of the Paint & Body forum. This will help you to understand the simplicity or complexity of spray painting depending on your skill level and ability to adapt or retain information.

Yes it's easy to someone who finds it easy, and it is hard for someone who does not.

Hey I cannot play a single not on a guitar, or any kind of rhythm on a drum, and others say "It's easy. Why can't you do it?"

You will also need approximatley $1000 of good quality gear to do a good job. I understand there are people who have bought $300 of gear and done a respray, however I would not think the finished product would often be of a high standard.

Expect to pay $2000 just to get the bus painted, not including stripping, repairing or assembly. This would be for an average or slightly above job with no runs, dry spots and done in two pack.

Repairs depend on the condition of the bus now, and how straight you want it to be. I painted our bus in a light colour and did not worry about any original production ripples. If you look very close it is not straight like a sheet of glass.

I would recommend taking all glass out of the bus, along with any outside trims. The hardest area being the front door windows and outside scraper/ aluminium trim assy. Many people have destroyed this trim getting it off, and some even bend or buckle new ones putting them back on.

You can save about $1000 doing this bit yourself.

Cheers for that.

Ive been doing a bit of bodywork myself, but i dont have any gear for spraying. So im trying to weigh up the odds of buying some gear and doing it myself or getting someone else to do it.
And becasue i live in town, I have the problem of trying to find a place to spray it withing annoying too many people...
