Not beating you up with sticks or anything but if you want your car to look like a rice rocket then why not give yourself a head start and get a Honda
or a Toyota or whatever.
The less plastic on a VW the better.
That's the thing about these cars, they're actually made from steel (unusual these days) and IMO (and many others) its best to keep it that way.
When it comes to plastic/fibreglass on an ACVW, less is more.
Just my $0.02, it's your car...........
You mis-spelt spoiler.
Just comparing it, and imagining it on ur pics of ur bug in ur signature. It works on hatch backs, But if u put it on a bug, from the pic, looks a lil
too far forward (if you want clearance of the big window.
you after physical performance or just looks?
would have to be just for looks.... but what style are you thinking of and how big? can you get a sketch or photoshopped pic up as a demo??
IMHO its your car so do what makes you happy... i love looking at the huge variety of cars at shows and seeing the different things people have done
with them... some are not what i would do but i still appreciate the time and effort that people put into the cars... i think it would be rather
boring to see 400 cars at a show and they all pretty much look the same...
Hi
Do you mean one like this?
Steve
will look sweet with the spinning chrome rims
The roof spoiler would be of great assistance at really high speed. Due to the upright desighn of the bug windscreen(Lbug a bit less). The air gets
pushed high off the roof and then as it comes back down on the back half of the roof it turbulates high as it peels off above the back window. It
simply does not follow the lines of the car due to its shape. For example, the massive wing Jak used to have on his car...I think now on Alex's,
stops shaking and sits perfectly still after 160kmh. The air is breaking and turbulating above it thus making it ineffective, unless a roof spoiler
directs the air before it peels away inturn allowing a normally placed wing to be effective at really high speeds. Otherwise it would have to be like
these....

I want to do one....its just in the line of other things to do.

No stick beating. In fact I want you to do it, I want to see it when it is finished. Enough talking and just get it done. Enough said?
I hope that gauntlet wasnt being thrown my way....even if it wasnt, I will have a rough one finished by the end of the day. i have just finished a
completely new air to air intercooler set up, as the water to air system with the naca duct in the bonnet that I did on monday doesnt work as well as
the old one.......wait for pics.

Sorry it took so long to post pic..i sent them to Jak, although was a busy little icypole.
Got a coat of paint on it, needs a bit of a tidy up although had it to this stage in 1 and a half hours.

The new Citroen "Lounge-something" (or "something-Lounge") concept car has electrically-excited vibrating panels which look like they're 50 mm by
50 mm, in place of a rear spoiler; these are supposed to disrupt the airflow in a similar manner but with less drag, to achieve Citroen's aero
aims.
As the spolier concept is rather passé, I think you should consider this rather more post-modern approach; the amount of vibration could be managed
by the ECU.
Since you're modifying panels, you could also be the first with 'suicide' gull-wing doors (they hinge at the bottom).

Another pic from the side....needs a bit more shaving here and there, it probably would look atlot worse if it were not spur of the moment.

Will post a pic of the duct in the bonnet where the vw symbol used to be, after a bit more bogging and sanding.
Will do the reverse suicide doors later today on the oval...anyone else want me to try anything. I have a crazy new front for a bug that will be done
soon.

If you feel like taking offence. Be my guest.
A few years ago I had a friend in Canberra who made a good living out of making and fitting what he called, "wanker wings" and that was before
anyone had ever heard of ricers.
