sand blasting in Sydney
bus914 - April 30th, 2006 at 10:59 AM

where is the best sand blasting service in Sydney's wild west?

If you are doin a shell, DON'T get it 'sand' blasted as it damages te metal and creates extra work. Get it stripped at Redi-Strip at blacktown

Other than that, dunno...!

watched some car show a few days ago where they were using salt to blast strip a car.. Looked clean,, About 6 large bags (from memory) to do an entire mustang

were they trying to rust it

Sheesh! You'd wanna make sure you didn't get any into cracks and crevices!

walnut husk or plastic media/beads is better - doesn't take off the surface of the factory steel

I was going to write it down at the time..!
Bugger.. now I'm going to have to go find it..
The applicator was a simple gurney looking device and the operator was stripping away without any safety equipment out in the open air.. I though to myself at the time..This is a lot cleaning than chemical or sand stripping.. They had the car on a rotisserie..

Sorry Folks.. It was Soda Blasting..

Wag67 - April 30th, 2006 at 02:42 PM

is soda blasting the same as dry ice as there is a guy up here in Brisbane that uses dry ice more environmentally freindly if you are into protecting mother earth
