Gday all
My brother and i have recently atempted to replace the door rubbes in his 68 beetle. Problem we have come across is that when we get the rubber in the
groove and sitting sweet the door decides it dont wanna close. has any one got and tips or secrets? is it possible someone has ajusted the door and
now the new rubber is to fat? Im not that good with door adjustments...
thanks, daniel.
your not pushing the rubber into the groove far enough
is the groove clean from old glue n grud as well
is it mainly at the bottom?
with the door shut does the chrome strip line up with the one on the back quarter panel?
ive seen b4 ppl with saggy door hinges that have droped down the latch on the pilllar so theyre droopy doors are easyer to close
works ok when u got old rooted rubbers but chuck some new ones in and u get ur problem
I've never had any problems with door rubbers
although Many people do...
the channel the rubber sits in Must be totally clean of any glue etc..
and push the rubber to the bottom of the channel
close the door for a few days so the rubber compresses
if there is a problem...
the door frame should compress the rubber if its seated deep enough
I use armorall on the rubber face...
naturally you don't want armorall on the bottom of the rubber..
best of luck
Lee
