Hi all, just a quick question, i hope i'm in the right forum I need to replace the heater tunnels on my 1970 bug. Has anyone got any suggestions on where i can get new ones from and how much should i pay? i'm in tamworth so will prob have to get them mail order. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
yep, you're on the right forum!
if your car needs new heater channels, it might be cheaper and easier to find a new body shell, or another car and use your for spares. Shells/cars
sell for under $1000
or you can expect to pay $1000 a side by the time they are purchased, fitted and painted. (maybe more, maybe less $$$ depending who and what you
know)
but yes they can be replaced and purchased from most our suppliers.
........swapping bodies, hmmmm, wiring, panel work, interior swap out, paint matching..............$$$ as well.........
the channel sections you need are available from Vintage in Sydney and can be posted up 02-9789-1777 for a price
the sections arnt that dear but yes as per above the fitting and painting will be time consuming and hurt your pocket but hey iif the rest of the
shell is good then it may be worth saving the whole lot
bog them up and sell the car ................its only a 70's model !
hey thanks for all the helpful advice. The car is special so can't be sold, must be repaired. body is not great but not sure i want to change the whole shell so i guess its the heater channels. tahnks again for the help.
you will have to pull the shell from the chassis to do the job properly i take it yr in Tamworth area ???
yeah dave i live in the tamworth district, you don't know anyone whose interested in working on a lost cause do you?
i would go and check out the panel shps in the city or outskirts make sure they WANT to do a cash job and would be interested in doing it if there doing R & R insurance jobs all the time then they dont usually wan tto do fiddley jobs like this you will need to make some stands to sit the shell on
