Well i have been inspired by the efforts of people like dasdubber and beerdoc and others and their pic stories on bodywork...specially rust
removal so i thought i'd give it a go myself.
getting my red beetle back on the road and there was bad rust in the corners around the rear window...is that called the "C" pillars? anyway
lucky i still have a donor beetle or two...

the rust was in the lower corners but so was it on the green bug so i cut the top corners out and swapped them diagonally

hey a bit rough and needs a skim of bog but tadaaa! rust is gone and it was fun
Well done, there is nothing like the satisfaction you get from doing a job your self.
matt
good stuff mate, Im hoping to have a go soon myself.. practise practise practise...
finally found some time amid lifes dramas to do the last bit on my beetle
[img][/img]
i have already welded a bit of 40x4mm flatbar in there...that jacking point is going nowhere but up!
cut a similar piece to what i needed out of my green beetle(or whats left of it)
[img][/img]
then had to shape it a bit

fitted in nicely

yeehaaa...a beetle with no rust...just as i'm getting good at this...oh well there is always the black kombi to do if i get time
looks like a job well done isn`t rust repair fun
yes rust repair is fun...rust is ugly shiny metal is pretty plus it keeps structural integrity and transport authoities happy
