Hi
I just want a tidy kombi not a concours winner.
Should I be able the get this ding pulled and look sort of ok, or will a new nose be required?
Not sure if the attachment worked. Here is a picture:

Thanks.
its ugly, but if its rust free you should probably at least talk to a mechanic about getting it pulled. clean and rust free replacements are hard to come by.
Its a monster job to get the whole front clip replaced, not to mention actually sorcing one in the first place, you can get complete new front clips
from the UK but the freight charges are insane.
A good panel shop should be able to beat it back close to the right shape, but it would require filler to finish it properly.
I hit an Emu just outside Lightning Ridge and damaged the right side of the clip, I got a shop that was recommended to me by my VW mechanic, to
repair it, that was ten years ago and you can't see that it has had any work done to it from the outside, it looks like it did when it left the
factory. so it can be repaired.
Its a bit of a pity, the rest of the Kombi looks pretty good, a nice bus
Rob.......
Wow that is nasty.
To replace it will be very expensive.
To repair it will be expensive.
It looks like some old filler has cracked that was rusty from the past. I would be honest and say it would be an 10-14 hour repair (panel only no
paint) and that would have to be costed out at least 46-55 dollars per hour, so you are looking between $500 and $700 just for the repair. With remove
refit and paint on top of that it would be up around $800- $1000. See how you go. Ring a few panel shops and find one that is not busy. Prices for
private work is not discounted when times are busy. :thumb
forgot to mention. make sure it is done WELL. my spare parts bus had inch thick filler on the front that fell off as i stripped the bus
