I've finally took the body off the pan on my beetle and as a started to clean up the surface rust under the fuel tank area I noticed the front
passage corner wasn't quite right.
What has gone wrong in the photo and what am I going to have to do to fix it?
Cheers
Mike

Meanwhile.... back at the ranch...
Looks like a poorly repaired front ender requiring a new front clip. I saw one at the nats for $20 but more like $300 retail. Plus the cost to weld it
on if you can't.
looks like its had a smack and needs a stretch out and a little heat back into shape
take it along to yr local panel beater to haveapull
That seems like quite a simple thing to fix. All you need is a bit of tension on the bumper bracket mounting, a bit of heat on the 'kinked' section, and a bit of hammer/dolly work on the creases, and a little weld on the crack. Sounds easy - and it is, compared to welding in a 'clip'. From the photos, there doesn't appear to be any serious rust, so it would be nice to keep the original metal.
So is the nose original? after I started looking at it, it didn't seem to match surrounding metal. Does anyone have a photo of how it should look in that section?
silver, it wasn't an allegation, it was a question. i'm impressed with the link you posted tho!
mike, bugs had a minor bump, secure the car, fit bumper bracket, use a chain winch and pull it out, it should pull out easy. i'd also be looking at
the area where the guard bolts to the body you might find some body distortion get another guard to check the body line.
