Anyone have any advice on achieving a flat paint job? I like the look and imagine its cheaper to get done professionally and may actually be
relatively easy to do yourself? Im not talking really ratty flat look, but a decent enough job without the shine, i want this sort of look:
On the subject does anyone have any old quotes for a beetle respray? Im not looking for inside/out concours, just an external respray on a beetle,
thanks a lot
your looking more at a satin type paint or matt with clear SATIN is cooler
There's more than one way to achieve the look - one is to use two pack - you can either lay down a black base coat then use a matt clear (available
already matted), or add flatting base to the the clear. Or you can add flatting base to a direct gloss black - the more you add the flatter it gets,
just don't make any runs as you can't cut and buff them out (or dust nibs etc).
I have done flat acrylic jobs in the past but now just use the above method (but do have a booth as the isocyanates in two pack hardeners aren't good
for you or your neighbours!)
