T3 panels
mjwcookie - April 3rd, 2011 at 12:30 AM

Hi all. I am looking at getting a t3/caravelle to restore and use for a daily runner and camper. I will probably need to do some body work, so . Are there replacement panels easily available in oz? I have seen them overseas online. What about some good parts/panels shops in Victoria? Are replacement panels relatively strait forward as DIY. I have some welding experience in past, or should it be done by a pro.

I have heard that they made them in South Africa until recently or maybe still do. Can you import them from there or is it cost prohibitive?

Can you import parts from there and do they fit the ozzie assembled ones?

Thanks

Mark

hi all. A lot of people have checked out this post request and only 1 response, so I guess that panels are pretty hard to come by in oz. I will keep everyone posted if i find anything else online from overseas.

Mark, when you're checking out vans, avoid the rusty type don't dwell on mechanical more than body, mechanical is easier and sometimes a lot cheaper than rust removal.
T3 corrosion protection ex factory was very good and excellent rust free examples are common.

thanks for that info Dave. I will keep that in mind. Good to know that the factory protection was good.
