Recolouring fender beading
jedt3 - April 7th, 2011 at 12:24 PM

Hi All,

I have a 1970 Fastback that is safari (sahara?) beige. When I got the car it had matching coloured beading. I replaced this with black when I painted the car, but I kept all the old parts. Is it possible to have this recoloured, as the beige is no longer available, other than trying to track down NOS?

Regards,

Jed

Have you looked O/S for what you want.

Just a hint. The white fender beading actually goes beige because it tarnishes in the sun. What you had may have very well been white once! ;)

Hi, yes looked o/s. My beading is faded at the top but the original colour is still strong on the parts that were not exposed.

Hi,

You can get black kits for type threes but I am looking for the beige that I originally had.

Hi

I can understand you going to the trouble to get this right, a friend did the same thing with a red bug, he perfected painting the beading the same colour as his car and getting it back together without splitting the paint.

He was always disappointed when people asked why he didn't remove the beading before he painted the car.
