Last night on tv there was a program on the Ferrari factory. They mentioned they use a special Ceramic Clear Coat finish. I did search with mighty Google and found some info. Apparently PPG invented it.

PPG's CeramiClear® clearcoat was the first clearcoat to use nanoparticle technology to achieve a previously unattained level of scratch, mar, and etch resistance. This patented technology creates a hard, silica-like surface that provides superior resistance to damage caused by day-to-day use, car washes, and environmental hazards such as acid rain and tree sap. While this technology is currently employed as a two-component liquid clearcoat, PPG is very close to commercializing a one-component version for use in automotive assembly plants.

Has anyone every used this stuff? What's the finish, quality, durability and etc like?

Yeah it looks pretty good on my Ferrari, the kids on the street don't seem to be able to scratch "w@%ker" into the doors anymore....

ive used it heaps of times application is pretty much the same and its alot harder wearing, ive found it to be especially good on black cars as it doesnt show up the small scratches that get left on the car from day to day wear like washing the car. the product IS more expensive tho and any de nibbing and buffing has to be done with in 24 hrs at the latest !!
