fish oil and 2 pack paint

Can anyone tell me if 2 pack primer can go over fish oil. the tin reckons enamel paint can but nothing about 2 pack. Being lazy and don't want to
clean off the fish oil from the underside of the guards and haven't got round to trying out a test patch

intial ans it does, will give it time to cure then give it a rub to see how well

I'm guessing.. it will be OK... BUT it does depend on how long the fishoil has dried/cured...
I know its OK with most paints... I haven't heard of any problems
even after short periods of time...
summer dies much faster then winter...

It wont work. You cannot paint two pack over fish oil.

seconded. do not spray any paint over, all it will need is a slight nudge and the whole surface of the paint with rip off, it shouldnt be that hard to
clean it off i mean some heavy degreaser..

test patched failed, rub off easily, so much for the hope of being lazy.

You may be correct...
I know other types of paint go on it easily...
also once fish oil has set for a long time... its very hard to remove
like 3-5-6-9 years lol...
its very easy to remove within the first few months...
depending on the temperature and how thick the fish oil is..

then once you've cleared the bastard with seven coats of obscenely expensive polyurethane you get to polish the lint and dead bugs out of it.

er no maybe about it, it will not stick as the fish oil will move even when its 50 years old!
paint mite cover it but it will come off no matter what type of paint it is...sorry but you are misinformed..

are we talking about fisholine ? or some other fish oil product?
The stuff I had was 35 year old fisholine which dried to a clear rock hard varnish like finish. It was never oily at any stage, was like varnish with
a slight fishy but mostly varishy smell.
paints stuck real good to it even recall reading on the back to paint straight over or prime if using acrylic paints or something along those lines.
Never had any problems with paint not sticking.
perhaps the stuff these days is oily?
