Help !?
Quoll - August 17th, 2003 at 09:16 PM

I have just finished applying the colour coat to my beetle, the guards came up ok but the roof is very rough with over spray I was wondering if it was possible to give it a light sand with 1200 wet to get it a bit smoother before I apply the clear coats. It is painted 2 tone acrylic paint; fire engine red and lotus white will these colours go funny if I sand them?
is there a way to fix this or am I screwed as I don’t think I have enough left to respray the poor bits before clear coating?
:cry

ok theres a couple of thigs to try here but id wait for further advice 1st b4 trying them.

1.yes tyr 1200 wet and dry or even 2000 wet and dry.

2.watered down thinners (pretty watered down) on a rag and wipe down quickly then wipe over with clean rag when done.

3.a good cutting compound and a buffer, just try to polish it out depending on the savarity of the over spray.

as i sed check with other ppl b4 you do it, but these are the things i consider doing when i paint my gear.

1200 grit is too fine if painting over, 800 is better.

The colours will not be affected by sanding them.

cutting NOT a good idea - if paint is too thin u can easily rub back to the undercoat, i have made this mistake b4!
