i will soon be rebuilding my car and i wondering would it be easier to sand blast it bead blast it paint stripper of sanding it back im doing the
inside also and what to knnow how much whats the best result and roughly how much would it cost me ?
any help much appreciate it
The best result would be a media blaster that will do soda/ bead blasting of the sensitive outer panels, and sand/ garnet blasting of the solid shape
and rusty areas.
The best places are charging about $2000 for a complete car and panels.
We get a car done about once every two weeks at our work.
thanks for that helbus and after its all dont do they put on anything to stop surface rust of would i have to do it after?
Depending on the blaster. The place we use will surface prep all of the metal, being hot soapy water on soda blasted panels, and then De-oxidine on
all panels.
They will also etch prime or epoxy prime panels at a cost. Or you can do it your self.
Time = $
yeah thats what i thought also i might make some phone calls and find out or even sand blast it my self see ill see what happens thanks for that mate
Red from Metal prep in Kingston has done a great job on 2 of my beetles. He used to be a panel beater so he knows how to blast without damaging the
car and he etch primes afterwards.
He is always busy though so it might depend on your timetable.
Yogie
If you have a tight budget a carefully used grinder will have the outside of your panels in clean shiny metal for about $30 worth of discs. The inside of your doors etc. can be cleaned and sanded by hand, its all about how much you want to spend.
yeah i no what you mean mate i use a blue wheel about 15mm thick on my grinder and it brought the metal nice and smooth on my old cortina project
and yogie my timetable would be around 6 omths mate but dont care if it took a lil longer
