Just wondering if anybody here knows if it's possible to replace the original steering column on 64 beetle with a later model colapsible version?

yes its possible BUT there may be some brackets that need to be changed

I have a Series 1 Golf GTI column and wheel in my 65 but took some mods to do it

It is mainly the two bolt mount below the speedo, easy to do.

I have a few columns with switches out of 73 type 3's if you are interested.

If you want the column to sit properly you have to cut metal and weld in flat sections move the fuse box

bit of stuffing round but worth it

Other wise if wont sit right
