Hey, I have currently got a 75 bug that has a lot of gearbox oil coming from the front of the gearbox aswell as around the drain plug which seems relatively tight... I've attached pictures below, can any one tell me if they know a resolution?

The leak from the front could be from 3 small detent holes on the side of the nose cone. Clean it up and see if the plugs are missing. Check this link and scroll down for a pic. The plug I'm talking about is #6 in the pic.

Every time I've had a gearbox leaking at the front like that its been the reverse light switch.

the plastic centers work loose and the sealing washers stop doing their job

only one way to find out is it needs a good scrub and clean to see exactly where the leak is


after cleaning make sure you top the oil up to correct level so as it will leak easier
