any one ?
Hey Seagull,
The cam itself from the 1776 will be fine in a 1600. If it is used, then you have to retain the same followers...at least that was what I thought.
Matt
Thanks Matt ,I did a swap with Raf for this cam and would like to know the following .
the gear has this number 113 109 111A
I have a new set of stock lifters can I use these ?
do I have to ballance the internals * stock crank * ect
any ideas please seagull
Is the cam used????
I once read that once a cam is broken in that it can only be used with the exact lifters that it was broken in with.
If it is new then there should not be a problem with tha stock lifters.
Are you using a lightened flywheel or a stock??? If you lighten it then you can get you crank balanced. Part of the reason VW's flywheels are heavy
is to counter any balance problems.
Go to http://www.geneberg.com and read and read the tech notes/tips on their
recommendations for every aspect of building a modified engine...lots of theories and proven results. Will give you a great understanding of some of
the ins and outs relating to your project.
Hope this helps,
How are the projects...the heads????
Matt
Thanks again Matt I going to try this in an auto
the Heads are on the back burner as I need to clear a few projects up * need some space *,bigger shed with my dad on the job laying bricks he is a
builder .I going to put one more bay on 48 sq mtrs .
So i can get my machine shop on one side and toys on the other .:bounce
the cam is used I dont know how many ks RAF ??, but it looks ok to me , yes I would go with run in but its a parts motor I have * using all the air
cool parts I have to build a low cost motor * all machined ect as new if not better .
o thanks RAf got it to day thank you , seagull

The cam number you have looked at is the part number for the gear can't tell anything from that,
The cam spec should be stamped into the end of the cam near the oil pump drive.
