Will this work OK for an Engine Breather ???
68AutoBug - June 28th, 2004 at 01:29 AM

Hi,
I have done this modification for an engine breather.
The hose will go from this brass fitting to the original VW Air cleaner... The hose will be 13mm ID..
Is this large enough for an engine breather???
The other one will be blocked off when the air conditioning compressor is fitted... I'm getting ready...
- Will this work OK ???

That will work fine. If you are at all worried, you can braze similar fittings to the rocker boxes and lead them all to a box filled with scotch pads and thence to inlet somwhere so that any fumes get re burnt.

juts as long as the tube is big enough to let the air move freely. My breather was to small and was still causing pressure build up in the case.

The best I have seen is a small pump that sucks the pressure out of the engine (this was for a vw drag engine) it was electrical and driven of a small battery if I remeber correctly.

Hi

You will get a lot of splash from the cam gear, but as long as the hose has enough head (as in height) on it it will work. What are using for a breather tank, a semi auto oil tank?

thanks guys..

its going straight to the VW aircleaner Steve..
I was wondering if it would pick up any oil...
I have to wait until I have a cap made for the thread in the chrome alternator stand.. to see if it sprays out any oil...
or I could just block off the current breather... I'll do that & check it out.. tomorrow... I did think of having hoses going to the tappet covers etc... but this is easier...
It is amazing how much pressure comes out of a VW Engine...
You don't normally feel if coming out as its usually in a hose.

Yeah, black and silver should get you about 5-7 more HP. Now if you paint erotic designs on it in blacklight paint and put some UV strobes in there you'll get another 20HP at least!
