seagull - July 1st, 2004 at 12:57 AM

is this cam a reground stock cam or a custom off the shelf unit that stan has made from dot ?

I would also like to know > see a photo of some of the head work ie cc work done to the heads please .

What is the volume of the combustion chamber in the head ?

Seagull, if someone has ported and polished the heads to a custom profile, you're dreamin' if ya think they'll post a pic on the 'net, especially if it's come out of a workshop (as distinct from a backyard garage).

If you really would like to know, ring the man 02 6654 3694

Sorry that post sounded a bit abrupt, it wasn't meant to be.

I've had some new 044 heads looked at by an awesome port-n-polisher, he essentially sits the inlet and exhaust port gaskets over the studs, then just studies where the meat has to be taken out. The finish surprised me as to how rough the surface was. Maybe the job wasn't finished yet, but it definately wasn't baby-bum smooth.

The work is done with either an electric or air grinder, so I guess the surface finish depends on the grade of stone.

Sorry can't be more helpful, but as I said, your chances of seeing some really nice ported and polished heads on the net are pretty slim.

There should be roughness in the inlet ports. The air fuel mixture has to stay atomised.

The exhaust ports however should be polished.

I really do not understand why secrecy surrounds this (on this forum). Do people out there really believe that someone will come along and steal there ideas from a few pics on the net ??

If someone wants the info that bad, I would suggest they buy what they are after and take it from there.

Heres some heads done by Darren Krewenchuk up in Canada.

http://home.att.net/~theshoppe/power.html  - You can find his email address at cal-look.com - he would probably take the time to answer your questions and help out where he could...
