I am putting a 2.0 ltr T4 into a Splity Pick up that I have fitted a T1 (1969) 1500 gear box into (Lowers the bus, as you loose the reduction boxes).
I have read, but have not found full info that you can or how to(?) use the "Pad" from a T1 PP and fit it onto the T4 PP? does anybody know about
this?
The other way is to use a bearing guide tube from a T1 72> G/Box, how do you attatch this to the 1500 (1969) T1 Gear box?
Many thanks for your time.
Hi
If your using a diaphragm pressure plate I don’t think there is any way to fit a pad to the fingers, it might be best to speak to a clutch
specialist. Are you using the Kombi flywheel? The later release bearing guide tube mounts on 3 x 6mm studs in the bell housing, there is casting for
this, it would be hard to reproduce this and keep the tube centralised, the 71 & later 1300 twin port trannies have this guide.

I am installing a 2L typeIV into my beetle (using a 1500 swing axle box).
http://www.sharpbuilt.com.au sells the brass (or is it bronze?) pilot
bushing for around $18 when I bought one - I had this pressed/machined into the 215mm typeIV flywheel I am using. I ordered a throwout bearing adaptor
collar from aircooled.net
http://www.aircooled.net/new-bin/viewproductdetail.php?keyword2=CFP0010&c...
...which is used to enable the use of the typeIV clutch and pressure plate. I had the box rebuilt at the time so made installing this collar
convenient.

Hi
The collar from aircooled net looks great. I used a stock needle roller bearing in my flywheel, I just had the centre of the flywheel turned out to
fit it..
