My carbs are stuffed & I either need to get them rebuilt or get new ones.
A suggestion from one place was to get a set of new brazillian carbs & change over all the linkages.
What should I do? get the current standard type 3 carbs rebuilt or go for new carbs that have to be modified? Is it feasible & would they take up
more space, or be too impractical
Thanks
Ken
Get the new carbies
but use the old jets as the brazilian ones are way too big for using petrol
If the carbs themselves are ok just kit them and maybe get the body rebushed if required. I just re-kitted mine and they are fine now.
or if you want years of trouble free motoring as vw54 suggested, go the Brazilian ones
It all comes down to time and money.
How much are these Brazilian carbies?
Volks affair in S Melb quoted $230 + gst each then about 4 hours labour to do all the changes like linkages rejetting & tuning about $815 all up
The carby price wasn't bad....
BUT the total cost is too Expensive....
You can get the originals rebushed so they don't suck air from where the shafts go thru....
I'm not sure who does them but it won't cost $800 ????
and carby kits aren't too expensive.....

Thanks for your help everyone, new carbs would be great but $300+ to get the changes to the linkages & tuning is over the top.
Does anyone know if the brazillian carbs use the standad type 3 air cleaner or you have to get new aircleaners & if the fit in the same space
under the floor hatch? Also does anyone know if anyone else in Melbourne has them & what would be the cost of having them fitted so that they work
in a squareback?
