white walls flaps install?
sleeper - September 8th, 2004 at 09:43 AM

hi all,
just wondering what would be the easiest way to install the white walls on my rims?
take all the rims off ,deflate the tyres, insert the walls, go to servo ,inflate tyres and put em back on car
or
leave the rims on car, jack it up, deflat tyres, insert walls. inflate tyres and voila.....?
any suggestions?
cheers

Hi Man
I took each wheel off one at a time, deflated the tyre and broke the bead's using the Kombi as a bead breaker.
You have to make sure you get the whitewall centred properly on the rim, there should be a guide ring (raised line) on the whitewall so you can see if it is, If you dont do this, the insert won't sit flat against the tyre, they will stick out a bit. I have crossplys on my Oval so it is critical. If you have radials its no so bad. dont use any lubricant between the whitewall and the tyre, they will pop out when you try to inflate the tyre. Take your time, and make sure they are even all the way around and you should have no trouble.
They make the car look so much better, enjoy!

Take the car with all it's wheels on it to Bob Jane. I did, it cost $5 per wheel and you get a coffee while you wait the 15 minutes for them to do it ;) I figured if they stuffed it up they can pay for the repairs to my white wall inserts costing $27 each.

Yep.
Fit any tyre, as long as you get the right flaps, ie, 15 inch ones for 15 inch tyres.

Cheers
Dave
