Something has me puzzled , well alot does really but please find a pic of the motor i pulled from my Notch. My cars a 65 however runs discs upfront
and IRS rear with wagon drums. Anyhow when i first crawled underneath i noticed the bar/ engine support that is by the fan housing but in my Notch
didn't actually bolt to anything. Is there some brackets missing from it? To drop the motor i just did the usual 4 bolts on the gearbox and one buy
the top of the fan housing , by the rear of the boot lid.
Having not yet searched out any manuals yet i'm hoping if there is some thing missing it's in 1 of the 7 boxes of junk that came with the car.
Any ideas?

the bar has a bolt and rubbers that connect to the body , you may find them in the boxes
Thanks Seagull. I best get myself a manual i think. Matara was willing to lend me one for a short while so i best get my ass in gear and collect it.
I'll need it when i piece the Notch back together me thinks.
Oh yea the breather box you made is gonna make it's way into the Engine bay for sure. 3 big K & N's in full view, thats sexy!!!!l
Thanks
Dan
Dannyboy,
sounds like you've got a later model engine in your car.
That engine support bar you mentioned is what supports the engine in later type 3's as they don't have the chassis fork to hold the gearbox (same as
a beetle set up).
What sub-frame is under your car now? cause if it's the later one (you mentions that it had IRS) I'd be very worried about your motor and box
falling out (if your subframe has been modified to have both the chassis fork and IRS then you've go nothing to worry about)
cheers
Danny,
Flintstones is right.....you have a later motor with the cross member, although your body was not designed to support either side, but at the back at
the top....Good thing is that your motor will almost definetely be a dual relief 1600. Good basis for the turbo we are going to bolt on. I found a
great exhaust , will make everthing...
