i'm about to get a 62 beetle droped with brm's i want to go as low as i can without narrowing the front end
what tyres should i use? i want to fill up the rear but how small should i go up front?

i run 5 1/2 brm 's all round
215/65 on rear
155 on front,but i run a 2 inch narrowed beam
i think you may struggle to get real low without a narrowed beam

i would like to see 4.5s , but you will need a 165 or smaller tyre, a 125 tyre is around a 195/50 tyre rolling diametre 577mm,but if you went for a 5.5 wide rim you could get a 175 /55 tyre which is the rear tyre of a smart car and is around 555mm they are small i was going to put these on the front of my bus they would sit ok on a 4.5 but the standards book says 4.5 will need a max width of 165 so if you are not worried about insurance id go for the 4.5
try continental or michelin
not very sure about how a bug goes for clearance but the 175/55/15 tyre will be the smallest

I run 145 x 15 tyres on the front of my lowered '61 with no problems. I think Volksworld had a step by step adjuster article not so long ago will try to find and let you know. You can see my front end mod on the members ride section turq '61.

I thought BRMs only came in 5.5 and 6.5in? I certainly could be wrong though.

I used to run 145s on the front of my stock width beam 63 bug with no probs - not super low but certainly low enough to scrape every now and again when cornering hard.
