Anyone fitted ABS to their dub?
or for that matter traction control?
obviously I am assuming the presence of a high HP motor for the second.
Just about impossible, sorry.

ABS is easy, just let some air into your brake system and they'll never lock up.
Traction control is even easier, fit some huge baja size tyres and run low air pressures.
mechanical ABS eh?
I meant the electrincally controlled stuff actually.
I have just read where ABS brakes were standard on late model 1993> Brazillian beetles ...
came with twin carb 1600 engine , front ventilated disc brakes, completely New syled dashboard & catalytic converter in the old 1964 [1967 Aust]
small window body with rear swing axles...

sounds easy !
i installed one on my bike just last week !
FAAAAARK, its a beetle, you gotta be able to loose it, i like locking up the front disk and sliding along waiting for the rear drums to do
something...............they never do
kids dont try thins at home, it only works in the wet
ok thats enuff for me..............
you're a sick puppy dude, if you like lockin up the fronts, you need a buggy, as it happens I have one for sale...
Quite a few rodders are going this route. particularly those going for full rego on repro rails rather than SR plates. The 130 kph brake test for ICVs
almost necessitates ABS.
I can ask around and find out from where they are getting the donor parts.
I think the traction control would the way to go. i have mate that could probably deisgn one. hes a micro electronic engineer and drives a bug!!!
it would be simple of having a revolution counter to determine speed on the front wheels form teh speedo. then having sensor on each rear wheel or
axle. if they all match up nothing happens but once one of the axles doesn't match the front, it would cut every second or third spark and therefore
kill power until they all equal up. once this is doen should be able to rig up a usd cable so you cna play with when and how hard the traction control
kicks in on your lap top.
hes almost there, he has designed his own speedo and tacho form scratch.
Matt,
I spose the trick with the ABS would be getting a decent computer and control valves.
Bix,
the motec ECUs come with traction control as an option.
