will 17" wheels fit under a bay?
waltermitty - May 29th, 2005 at 07:45 PM

I have a set of porshe wheels they are 17 " by 7.5 and 8 .5 inches. At present I am between VW (* dont ask) but i plan by the end of the year to be searchibng for a twin cab bay. What work will they need to get under the guards ? They are 55mm ofset.
Thanks in advance Mitchell

you may have drama with the rears.
mine are 17x7.5"
not sure of the offset.

I doubt 8.5" will work under a kombi, regardless of offset. I'm running 235 width rear tyres on 6.5 x 16" rims, and believe me, I have no room for more. Smaller tyres on larger rims will work, as vwtyp2 has shown, but 8.5" rims are pushing it. It's not the height that creates limitations (on the back), it's the width.
