I was just thinking about running some extra discs mounted off my outer CVs for turning brakes. Anyone ever seen anything like this on a VW?
A lot of work when all you need is three handbrake levers... the stock one with its ratchet plus a bar welded underneath, and two extras on the same axle/pivot that run the individual cables. Voila!
mmm, aint got room for the three handle setup with my gear shift and all, and besides, hydraulic ones always work better, cables stretch eventually.
you can buy a cylinder/valve gizmo wich will allow hyd turning brakes (with seperate lever) with foot brake working as std , ring a Brake shop.:party
too heavy........
just get a CNC (or something like) single handle turning brake and use your normal brakes........ and you can still use your park brake as a park
brake......:thumb
I reckon if you were to go to the trouble of putting extra disc's on board I would use em as the main brakes, remove the ones at the wheel. Would be
better off road less unsprung weight :thumb
Jaguar stuss is good for this aint it??
Nah, already thought about that. the output flanges wouldn't cope with that sort of sideloading, besides, the tranny is soft mounted so it would move all round the place.
Iv seen some pics of it done, looks pretty schick :thumb although allot of trouble. If racing probably be a good idea...
well if gearbox move around mount calipers off that... then it dont matter.

BTW, what are you doing today, working? I'm spose to writing a 3000 word essay. Motivation is kinda hard to find at the mo...
Yep at work... lets just say a bored drafty :thumb
pics I had some yonks ago when I was looking at building me ultimate Urban Assualt Vehicle. :thumb
Mainly race buggies seem to use though. Just came accross em Ill have a look at my home computer.
I think i saw one of the hillcimb specials with inboard disk brakes...... not sure who though
I do know of a few of the very good motorkhana guys who run a second set of calipers on their street cars, with a seperate master cylinder and
handle............
Yeah I think the second set of calipers is the way to go. It's also the only legal way you can have turning brakes in a road car.

A really good idea. saw it a couple of years back. But still, you need to have a second set of calipers on a road car, other wise the authorities see this as an adjustable bias valve which is illegal.
