Hi all
got myself a 62 bug and was wondering what is the best shock for the bug please advise...thanks
It does depend on the intended application and also your budget. I run Koni red adjustable shocks all round in my 63 beetle (on 1970 swing axle pan) and love them. They are not cheap from memory though. I understand KYB have a fairly good reputationk and I know they did pretty well in a shock comparison test Volksworld magazine did quite a while ago. I am sure some others will put forward their suggestions too.
Hi Alan thanks for the advise again...my shock is gone can you remember how much did you pay for it...and also my wheel are drum brake does it
matter...thanks
Cheers

Braking system won't make a difference regarding which shocks you run (ie. drums or discs), however when ordering shocks you will need to know if you
have a ball joint front end or king and link pin (earlier models), also if the rear is swing axle or IRS (however I have a feeling the shocks on the
rear are the same regardless - just check this though.
The cost of the konis was not cheap in comparison to other brands - I can't recall off the top of my head what they were worth as it was over a year
ago I bought them. I am not sure where you are based but it wouldn't be too hard to find a distributor - eg.

If you want a less expensive alternative, just give a local vw shop a call and get some costs for standard replacements. If you are running a stock
engine, brakes, wheels etc - may not be necessary to spend so much on shocks alone. I am running a 2L engine, 4 wheel discs, modified suspension and
bigger wheels - hence why I upgraded my shocks.
