Replacment Steering Wheel and Boss Kit?
The_Bronze. - November 28th, 2005 at 08:22 PM

Hi all.

Need some tech advice.

I have a tired old peeling 32cm sports steering wheel on the Baja. It has a boss on it with nine holes around the flange. I want to replace the wheel with an eBay job how do I choose what is the right wheel?

The link at the bottom of the page is similar to the type I'm looking at. There are 6 holes at the rear of the wheel. do I need to find a none hole wheel, can I make up a adapter, replace the boss or simply choose another wheel.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

to do it properly you need a boss to suit that wheel and the VW that you have.

I would either buy one that suits the boss you have (do you know what brand wheel you have??) or buy one with a bos kit

My guess is these people have a heap of wheels with out boss kits

yeah ive got 2 bosses with the 9 hole wheels 2. all the pretty new wheels are the 6 hole jobbys.

u could prolly make an adaptor plate but id get a new boss kit. and id get the boss before u go bidding on ebay cause there are plenty of wheels that fit that boss even if u miss out on that wheel, but make sure u can get one for your baja first.

Thanks heaps guys.

So where do I find a 6 hole boss kit that suits a volkswagen 71 type 1. Is this type of steering compatable with other cars. Ebay has a lot of boss kits but of course none for VW. Can anyone recommend an alternative place to supply for 6 hole or where I can find a nine hole replacement 33cm wheel.
